Valentine's Day Series: LBD

Faux Suede Moto Vest via Forever 21 ( ON SALE now mine is size medium) | This camel suede moto jacket is super cute too | Black Shift Dress via Asos | Tassle Necklace via Target | Black Wedges via White Mountain Shoes | Lipstick is Laura Mercier in Milky Way via Sephora

I hope your weekend is off to a great start! Here's a second Valentine's Day outfit inspo- the always winning LBD! I love how versatile this shift dress is. If it were summer I'd wear some cute sandals or chucks and call it a day! But since it's still winter I layered it with this fun moto vest, tights, some gold jewelry, and these wedges that I'm really loving at the moment (they're so comfy!) I think this look is perfect for a casual day date and the best part is that I know I will be able to wear this postpartum as a comfy shift dress.

Wishing you a great rest of your weekend and if you're in MKE- enjoy the warm-up!

how to make the perfect smoothie bowl with Door to Door Organics!

Last week I shared my vegetarian chickpea recipe with the help of my Door to Door Organics box! I cannot say enough good things about this service! I love it! If you want to try it out for yourself you can subscribe directly using this link here. This week I wanted to share a few tips on how to make the perfect smoothie bowl and a quick recipe for you to try! I've had to try making all sorts of smoothie bowls in order to find the right consistency. And finally after trial and error the secret is: bananas! I wish I would have figured this out sooner but alas better late than never right?! So here are my tips and hopefully they help you out a bit too!

  1. freeze your bananas without the peel
  2. make sure the bananas are ripe (the riper the banana the better)
  3. chop up your bananas before blending them (it makes it a lot easier to blend)
  4. when you're blending it helps to add the ingredients one at a  time especially if you don't have a fancy blender haha! Also, add the soy milk a bit at a time it'll help with the consistency.
  5. TOP it with everything you love!
For this recipe you'll need (all frozen fruit):

2 bananas
1 cup blueberries,raspberries and blackberries
1 1/2 cup soymilk

Blend and top with whatever you want!

Wishing you a great rest of your week!

Wine Shift Dress with lace via Forever 21 (I'm wearing size small & I'm 5'3) | Black Fedora via Target | Black Clutch with tassel (I found it in-store for $16 but it's still full-price online my suggestion check in store first for the better deal! via Target | Maternity Tights similar via Blanqi | Booties old similar via Target

It's almost February which means Valentine's Day is just around the corner! I thought I'd kick off a new series and share a few looks for different budgets. If you're not a huge V-day enthusiast these looks are fun for any other date night or night out as well ;) I keep finding that I can get away with a lot of non-maternity clothing because of all of the fun shift styles available right now. This super cute lace-paneled shift dress is so comfortable and roomy. I think I'll be able to wear it for a few more months and for sure postpartum! I also love that it has pockets. I wore it with this fedora hat and some heeled booties and voila an entire outfit for under $50!

I hope you have a wonderful week ahead! And for those of you who are snowed in-stay safe!

fave lipsticks!

I hope your weekend has been a warm one! It's in the negatives over here and with the windchill colder than Antarctica. But I still love you Wisconsin! Needless to say we stayed in most of the weekend and I was able to work on a few posts that I've been asked more frequently to write. I'm not an expert when it comes to beauty but I love all aspects of it. Believe me when I tell you that I've gone through so many makeup stages (think tweezed my eyebrows to oblivion)! However, I'm finally feeling like I have a handle on what works for me and what I love now that I'm in my thirties.

I prefer matte lipsticks because they stay put longer. On the down side they tend to dry up quickly. So when I find a matte that is creamy I end up buying it on repeat because that there is a keeper! This one by MAC is called Candy Yum Yum and it's my favorite bright pink. It's funny because before becoming a momma I hardly wore lipstick. Since then, I started playing around with more color and here we are! This is a color that I think you have to try on to see if you love it. You might be surprised once you try it on. It's fun and I love that it's a contrast to darker shades in the winter months!

I love a good red and this one I just can't quit! I think it's a classic color that every make-up wearer needs in their arsenal. Mac has a lot of great options like Ruby Woo  and Dita Von Teese but this one is just as punchy and costs a half less! I love that it doesn't dry up and is so creamy! The last time I wore it and went to Mac to pick up a new lipstick the girls immediately asked me if it was Ruby Woo so ha! It's actually Maybelline Siren in Scarlett and this is my favorite shade ever. It's the red you'll usually see in my pics.

I love a good vampy berry and this Rebel by Mac does the trick. It isn't matte but I love how creamy (word of the day!) it is. But it hinestly does not flake or dry up. The color pay-off is great and it lasts. I also recently found its less expensive counterpart again by Maybelline (they have some good stuff!) called Blissful Berry.

I know the term "nude" is relative to your skin tone but for this post's purpose I am going to call this shade nude for me. I have been looking for one for a while now since my last favorite, Cream Cup by Mac went missing (no doubt Gabriel hid it somewhere, lol!). It has more pink to it but it's so pretty on. Sometimes if I want to make my nude look more intense I put on a bit of my concealer first then add my lipstick on top. I use Studio Fix by MAC. I recently went to Sephora and found this shade Milky Way by Laura Mercier pictured. It's more expensive than I would like to spend on a lipstick but it was the perfect shade I have been on the hunt for. Plus momma's we have to treat ourselves every once in a while! ;)

To wipe off all of my lipsticks I use makeup wipes (my favorite are these from Costco). My lips have been so dry lately that I also use a sugar scrub to keep my lips soft. I love this homemade recipe!

Now tell me- what's your favorite lipstick?! I would LOVE to know!

on being a 'stay-at-home-mother'

We went to one of our favorite spots yesterday, MAM! It's always great visiting because they always have something going on for the little's (Kohls Art Generation) or yesterday they had an interactive art exhibit that was just as interesting for them. Gabriel right now is so chatty and he always ends up asking me a million questions and commenting whether we're at the museum or the grocery store! And I just love it because he's learning so much every day and even though some moments are tough with his growing personality it isn't impossible nor would I change the opportunity to stay at home with them at this stage for anything else.

Staying at home is not for everyone and that's okay! We're all so different and that's what makes us unique. My staying at home with our boys doesn't mean that I am a more loving mother either. We all love our kiddos and are doing an amazing job whether we stay at home or not. I get asked a lot about how I cope staying at home and what do I do to make it work mentally, physically and emotionally. I don't have a magical recipe but I genuinely love staying at home with them. I'm not sure how else to describe it but it brings me a lot of joy to raise them this way. It's something that comes very naturally for me, whether it's the way I was nurtured or my nature I can't say. This doesn't mean that some days I don't want to rip my hair out when Gabriel keeps jumping on and off the couch and refuses to listen to me! It simply means that in spite of all of that I derive joy from being a stay at home mom. I think it's important to assess that in all of our lives. At the end of the day whether I'm tired, achy and sore I look forward for them waking up and doing it all over again.

I think that doing things that I also love helps me on a daily basis. I absolutely love MAM. It's a place where I enjoyed visiting for years before I was married, when we married and I never thought I would change that after we had children. There's pretty much nothing that I think we can not do with them! Of course, there are always logistics and time frames that work out best for them. However, I create a habit to introduce them to things that I also enjoy in order for them to make space for that in their own lives.

I believe children are incredibly flexible and adaptable. They're constantly learning and every day they blow me away with something new. I've had to constantly remind myself not to underestimate them and in turn they surprise me with what they are capable of. I've realized that by treating them calmly, respectably and when I take my time to explain things to them- they listen. I'm really proud of that and I believe that's okay too. I share our stories and life because this has become a huge creative outlet for me and in doing so I've been told that I have helped give ideas and inspired in some way. That is truly humbling and something I don't take for granted.

Now with our third on the way I know some dynamics will change, but I will continue to do what I love too. One of my very favorite quotes is by Marriane Williamson and I'll leave you with that today,

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

Wishing you a great rest of your week!

pops of pink & the perfect shapewear!

Black BodyStyler Tank via Blanqi c/o | Vegan leather leggings via H & M sold out online but I found mine in store): Similar, Similar, Similar | Black and white knit sweater via Loft (sold out): Most SimilarSimilar, Similar, Similar | Black wedge booties via White Mountain Shoes | Lipstick is 'Mac 'Candy yum yum' | Bright Pink Satchel via Target

Now that I'm expecting our third little one I've realized that there are staples that every mommy-to-be needs in their wardrobe. One of those staples is the right shapewear. I didn't realize what a huge difference it makes to have the right support during pregnancy until I used it. I always figured it was more important postpartum, however, when I ordered my first pair of Blanqi leggings I realized how much more comfortable I felt with the right amount of support. So when the ladies over at Blanqi generously sent me a Bodystyler Support tank I was so excited to use and style it! I pretty much wear this tank multiple times a week! If you follow me on Instagram  you've seen several outfits of the day with me using it. It has become an essential for me and it's worth its weight in gold. In today's post I styled it with a cozy knitted sweater and vegan leather leggings. I also love the pops of pink for winter against the black!

Wishing you a great rest of your week!
