I love that we have seasons here in Wisconsin, but there's just something special about summer. We're trying to enjoy it to the fullest, and as the boys get older it just gets sweeter. I'm glad I'm able to capture these moments while they last.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend, and are enjoying your summer!

links & things!

I hope you are all having a wonderful week! Ours has been pretty sleepless, but no surprise there am I right?! Although I do think that after Cristian's top three teeth come through we all will be feeling some relief. Can you believe he is getting three teeth in at the same time?! Poor little guy! I do have high hopes that they'll come through soon since I can see them cutting through his gum tissue. And yes it looks as painful as it sounds!

Here's this weeks round-up of my fave links and things! I've posted quite a few shirt dresses on my Instagram that I've been rotating lately. I am living in them because they are such an easy outfit to put together, and are so nursing friendly. What I love even more about them is that I look effortlessly put together and that's a win in my book! I also posted our tidy living room, because this weekend B was home and we split up the boys which meant I had a ton of time to deep clean our place. And it felt so good! I got a lot of questions on our gallery wall, and I can't take credit for the design because I followed a step-by-step tutorial online! Everything is linked below.

from left to right

1. I posted about this Maybelline red coral matte lipstick and it's seriously perfect, creamy and not a dry matte- I love it!

2. This chambray shirt dress is so comfy, this diaper clutch set (wipe pouch changing pad and room for diapers) is everything I need to keep things organized when I go out with the boys, and these kicks are super cute and inexpensive alternative to chucks!

3. I've been using this Wild Bird ring-sling a lot lately! Stay-tuned for a Baby-wearing YouTube I'm working on :)

4. Okay, this is the tutorial I followed for our gallery wall. I followed everything even down to ordering our prints at Costco! Why re-invent the wheel right?!

5. I've been using this clarifying shampoo lately, and love how squeaky clean my curls get. It's a great switch up to my hair routine.

6. This white shirt dress is no longer available at Gap, but here's a similar one at Asos

7. This Olive shirt dress is so good! It's available in store at Target, but here's a sleeveless one online.

8. I'm going crazy over organic goji berries, and adding them to just about everything especially smoothies!

10. I'm still loving my Motherhood is my muse tee, and now you can use my discount code B119 for 20% off your first order at Blanqi!

Have a great rest of your week!

mommy chats: Elodie

Several months ago, I started a new series on the blog called Mommy business Saturday. Where I wanted to feature small businesses owned by mothers. However, since then I've realized that not only would I like to feature small businesses, but also moms that I've come to know through blogging and social media.
I want this space to not only be for, "mommies in Milwaukee" but for mother's from across the globe. What's neat is that a lot of these momma's I've never met in person, but via their blogs, Instagram pages and messages I've grown to call them friends. I'd like to think of this as our generations version of pen pals, except that now we can interact a lot more!

One of these mother's that I've grown to know is, Elodie. Not only is she gorgeous, smart and very funny but she's also from one of the chicest places on earth, France. I've loved following her journey on Instagram since we both were growing our little ones! I remember I came upon her page when we both had the same striped dress for our pregnancies. Since then I've learned that not only do we share a lot of similar interests, but she is also a great mother and wife. Now we both have our little ones with us, and continue learning about motherhood side-by-side in different parts of the world!

I'll let her share more about being a momma, family and her husband's, Tony's wonderful Montessori-inspired furniture business! You can follow them on Instagram at @Mr_and_Mrs_mg ! And their shops direct link on Facebook is here!

Welcome, Elodie and Tony to our very first, Mommy Chats!

8 months postpartum

It's hard to believe that it's been 8 months (and a few days) since Cristian was born! And at the same time it has been 8 months! I'm always surprised when I hit another month of being a momma of two boys. I've experienced a few changes this past month, and Cristian has changed so much that I've almost lost count with everything that's been happening. So I'll jump right in!

When I was breastfeeding Gabriel I started seeing the huge impact on my weight at about 8-9 months. This past month I started experiencing those same changes. Weight loss because of breastfeeding is not something that every nursing momma experiences, but after nursing both boys this long I know that I am one of those momma's that are able to obtain those benefits. Which I'm super happy, and thankful for because at about this time I always start feeling what I like to call nursing fatigue. Where I know it's still really great to be able to nurse Cristian, but at the same time I am feeling tired of doing it all the time.

However, in the past week he really turned a corner with eating food. Sometimes, I can't give him food fast enough! He's been eating everything we eat, and I've been doing a modified version of baby-led-weaning. It's modified because at times I feed him pouches of organic fruits and veggies. I also help him eat with a spoon. I am always worried he doesn't eat enough. Which clearly is not a problem for him! Hehe! Overall, I am feeling a lot more energized and even though Cristian's sleeping pattern has been all over the place (he is getting two more top teeth at the same time!) I am able to rest for 4 hours at a time most nights. I'm still trying to get my Bikram practice in at least once a week  and that's also helped with mindfulness throughout my week and physical strength.

Motherhood can be an emotional roller-coaster most days! But I was telling B yesterday (on our 4th Anniversary) how much better I feel now than when Cristian was only 4 months old. And it makes sense because that was Match time and possible moving etc. I am feeling more balanced now than I did at 7 months as well. Also, finding a stride with a schedule with the boys has played a huge role with finding balance. I  began making YouTube videos (as you guys probably know by now) and I am loving every second! It's been a fun way to share more of motherhood with all of you in a different way. My latest video is about my daily schedule and I can honestly say that emotionally I feel strengthened because I am actively taking control of our days. Which in turn, strengthens me spiritually as I believe that all of these things are intrinsically linked. I hope you momma's reading this are making some time for your selves to breathe, to exercise and voice to your partners or team in raising your children what you need to help you move in the right direction. You deserve that now more than ever.

This past month has been so busy for me! It's been great to meet several new moms in the area as well as begin a few different campaigns for the blog. I am so excited about sharing all of them with you all! It is going to be pretty busy around here but I am so thankful that my blog readership and connections are growing now more than ever before. Needless to say, I am starting to struggle with finding balance while Cristian's sleep schedule is not solid and I still have to be a momma to two  boys 24-7. I often have to answer emails every few days and inevitably I have a few emails fall through the cracks. However, I'm trying hard to make it work and find that balance while blogging is becoming a bigger part of my life. Also, as it becomes more of a part-time job. I would love to hear any ideas of how you work-at-home and working momma's find balance with work and being a mother?!

Well that about wraps it up for this month! Wishing you a great rest of your week!

throwback thursday

This week has got to be one for the books in terms of sleeplessness! For starters, Cristian is now crawling (if you follow me on Snapchat you may or may not have already seen some footage my account name is MommyinMKE)! I know it is absolutely crazy talk and I am both excited and a bit sad that these 8 months have flown by. He is also getting his top right front tooth. And it is is red, swollen and vicious.  He is such a happy camper though and all that seems to be affected is his sleep. Last night he was up at 1:30, 3:30, 4:30 and then 5! Has this happened to any of you with 7-8 monthers? This momma is a bit tired but honestly that first stretch of 4 hours is what is giving me life right now as well as my coffee! Suffice it to say that is why I haven't been able to update the blog for a few days.

Also, this past weekend we had so much fun at the National Volleyball League tournament. It was held at Bradford beach and I don't think we could have asked for better weather. We were given VIP access tickets (it provided access to the VIP private area, VIP Souvenir Pass, Lunch and two-drink tickets (alcoholic), Swag bag, some great deals on merch, plus some other goodies!)

We made it toward the end of the center-court tournament matches and stayed for a few more women's matches. It was so much fun to watch! I also shared snippets of the games on my Snap Chat! The whole vibe was full of energy and it was a great way to spend our afternoon. I definitely recommend catching a game or tournament if you're able! We also had some family time by the beach and I can't wait to go back again this summer.

I love being able to catch these two unaware of me taking pics!

That pretty much wraps up what's been happening on our end. I hope you're all enjoying your week!

links & things

I haven't written a links and things in a while! But lately I've been posting on Instagram a few 'things' and events we've been attending as a familia. I figured it would be helpful to share a round-up on here plus a few more links I'm loving!

Also,  a couple of weeks ago I joined YouTube after I had a few of you lovelies asked me about my makeup routine. My second video is a new series I've started called, '5 Things'. My first video in the series is about, '5 Things I wish I could tell an anti-public breastfeeding person!

I hope you're having a wonderful week!

From Left to Right:

1. My first YouTube- '5 minute Mommy Make-up'

3. Farmers Market flowers make my day a little bit brighter! I got these at the West Allis Farmers Market

4. We went to see the Minions Movie yesterday! It was super cute and funny! However, some of the parts were a bit intense for Gabriel who turned two in April and we had to leave early. I would suggest taking kiddos above that age maybe 4 or 5. Or if you know your kiddo can handle extreme emotions!

5. These linen pants I got at Marshalls are so good! Here are similar ones!

6. I posted this quick dinner recipe on IG: Arugula, baby spinach, cashews, feta, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, with grilled chicken and Brianna's homestyle dressing in poppyseed (so yum!)

7. These palazzo pants

8. It was so great to visit the 'Modern Rebels' exhibit at Milwaukee Art Museum !

9. I recently purchased a ring sling! I am so glad that I did because I love it. It's really easy to use and it works so much better with outfits. I'll be sharing a YouTube video about baby wearing where I'll share a little bit more about it! This one is from, 'My Wild Bird'

The story of Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment’s Minions begins at the dawn of time.  Starting as single-celled yellow organisms, Minions evolve through the ages, perpetually serving the most despicable of masters.  Continuously unsuccessful at keeping these masters—from T. rex to Napoleon—the Minions find themselves without someone to serve and fall into a deep depression. But one Minion named Kevin has a plan, and he—alongside teenage rebel Stuart and lovable little Bob—ventures out into the world to find a new evil boss for his brethren to follow.

The trio embarks upon a thrilling journey that ultimately leads them to their next potential master, Scarlet Overkill (Academy Award® winner Sandra Bullock), the world’s first-ever female super-villain.  They travel from frigid Antarctica to 1960s New York City, ending in mod London, where they must face their biggest challenge to date: saving all of Minionkind...from annihilation.

Featuring a soundtrack of hit music from the ’60s that still permeates our culture today, Minions is produced by Illumination’s Chris Meledandri and Janet Healy, and is directed by Pierre Coffin and Kyle Balda.  Brian Lynch has written the screenplay for the 3D-CG comedy adventure, and Chris Renaud serves as executive producer of the film.

4th of July Style inspo

I know it's been a while since I shared a style post on here! Although I have shared a few ootd (outfits of the day for those of you not familiar with Instagram lingo ;) ) on Instagram I know it isn't quite the same. But I have to be honest with all of you, style/fashion posts are the hardest for me to put together. For a few reasons. One of them being that the photographer is usually B and you all know that now it might be a little harder to have him take my pics. I haven't completely given up on fashion/style posts but they will look a little different from here on out. I'm still working out the kinks and whether it's posts on here or mainly on Instagram I will continue to share outfit inspiration especially for all of you nursing momma's! I figured the boys would join in on today's post! Especially because it's one of my favorite holiday's coming up. And how cute do they look in the stars and stripes?!
